NHS Dental Charges from 1 April 2021

From the 1st of April 2006, the payment system for NHS patients changed. The Government introduced a banding system for dental charges and these payments need to be collected at the commencement of treatment.

If you normally pay for NHS dental treatment, there will be three standard charges.

You will pay one of the three charges below:

Band 1 course of treatment - £23.80

This charge will include an examination, diagnosis and preventive care. If necessary, this will include X-rays, scale and polish, and planning for further treatment. This band price also includes urgent courses.

Band 2 course of treatment - £65.20

This charge includes all necessary treatment covered by the £23.80 charge PLUS additional treatment such as fillings, root canal treatment or extractions.

Band 3 course of treatment - £282.80

This charge includes all necessary treatment covered by the £23.80 and £65.20 charges PLUS more complex procedures such as crowns, dentures, or bridges.

It is our practice policy to give patients full information about the cost of their dental work before any treatment is undertaken. A written estimate will be given at your dental examination. Patients can pay for dental care by cheque, cash, or debit/credit card.
